What I Stand For
“We must build an Iowa where opportunity is real, education is strong, and affordability is not a luxury but a right — for every neighbor, every generation, and every community.”

Investing in Public Education & Student Success
Every student in District 33 deserves a well-funded, equitable education that prepares them for life and work. Public schools should be the cornerstone of community strength.

-
Support full and fair state funding for public education, including preschool, K-12, and community colleges — ensuring schools are not starved by inflation or diverted funds.
-
Expand mental health services in schools so students have access to counselors, support, and early intervention.
-
Strengthen supports for English language learners and special education, recognizing District 33’s diverse student needs.
-
Back teacher professional development, competitive pay, and classroom resources so educators can thrive.
-
Oppose policies that weaken public schools, such as vouchers or diversion of funds away from neighborhood schools.
Expanding Economic Opportunity & Affordability
Iowa should be affordable to live in and fair to work in — lifting up residents of all ages and backgrounds.

-
Support policies to raise wages, including continued discussions around a phased path toward a livable wage.
-
Advocate for paid family and medical leave so workers can care for loved ones without financial hardship.
-
Address housing affordability and rental stability to ease cost pressures on working households.
-
Expand access to quality childcare and early learning opportunities, reducing financial barriers for families.
-
Promote small business development as engines of local job creation and stability.
-
Strengthen career and technical education (CTE) pathways linked to local jobs.
-
Promote workforce training partnerships with unions, employers, and community colleges.
-
Support programs that help adults improve skills, transition careers, and gain economic stability.

Strengthening Public Health & Well-Being
Health care should be accessible, stigma-free, and integrated into community supports especially for children, veterans, and struggling families. Clean air and water are essential for public health.

-
Expand state and local mental health services, including community and school-based care.
-
Improve access to care in underserved areas and encourage workforce growth in mental health professions.
-
Support early-intervention programs that help children and families before crises escalate.
-
Improved access in underserved communities, including neighborhoods disproportionately affected by pollution, flooding, and extreme weather.
-
Climate justice as public health, including policies that:
-
Protect clean air and safe drinking water
-
Reduce exposure to environmental hazards that increase stress, anxiety, and chronic illness
-
Invest in community resilience to flooding, heat, and severe weather that disrupt homes, schools, and livelihoods
-
Fair & Just Government That Works for All Iowans
Government should be transparent, accountable, and serve everyone — from kids to retirees — without discrimination or exclusion.

-
Advance fair budgeting practices that doesn't shift tax burdens to Iowans in favor of tax breaks for corporations.
-
Protect civic participation so every voice is heard in policy decisions.
-
Defending the right to vote and expanding safe, accessible ways to cast ballots — including early voting and secure absentee processes.
-
Protecting the voice of every eligible voter, no matter their background or neighborhood.
-
Ensuring election laws are clear, fair, and don’t unfairly burden working families, students, seniors, or new citizens.
-
Community-centered budgeting processes that reflect the priorities of residents, especially those in District 33 who rely on strong schools, affordable services, and stable neighborhoods.
-
Budget transparency and accountability, with clear reporting so voters know how tax dollars are spent.

Civil and Human Rights
Every person fundamentally deserves dignity and respect. Our laws and institutions must reflect that.

-
Protect LGBTQ+ Iowans from discrimination in employment, housing, healthcare, and education.
-
Ensure schools are safe and inclusive for all students.
